Oakmont Hometown Christmas

This holiday event is always held on the Saturday before Thanksgiving and is perhaps Oakmont’s largest of the year. Thousands of spectators line the street to view the parade which kicks the evening off at 5pm. Traveling along ARB, the parade features approximately 15 floats, 100+ participants and of course, Santa Clause hitching a ride on the back of an Oakmont fire truck.
Once the parade passes by, the crowd spills into the street, which is lined with vendors of every kind. The air is filled with the scent of kettle corn and the sounds of carolers. Other activities for the evening include children’s games, Chinese Auction and a 50/50 raffle. Free cookies and candy canes are handed out to children waiting in line to sit on Santa’s lap. The evening culminates with a tree lighting ceremony in front of the Oakmont post office.
